Story:
Dr.Vishnu's highly anticipated movie "Sirivantha" has at last hit the marquee. Sirivantha revolves
around the concept of ideologies and being self sufficient in life.To explain this the director works his story
around the character named Narayan Murthy (Dr.Vishnu) who is very soft spoken and kind in nature. He works as an editor for a news
paper "Mitravani" and believes in the ideology of helping the needy. He is so committed in this path
that he spends half of his earnings on his family and the other to help the needy. His
family consists of his wife, two sons and a daughter. They are dead against the principles
followed by their father.
There is a need in the family for some urgent money as the eldest son needs to get a Sub
Inspector's job for which bribe has to be given, the youngest son needs to get through his
education for which money has to be spent and finally the son in law needs money so to start a business.
The entire family persuades and dictates his father to break his principles and borrow money
from a financer played by Dodanna. One man Narayan Murthy wrangles himself into the
responsibility of turning thier kids to lead a honest life by not giving bribes,
donation and not to get entangled with the financier. His effort goes in vain and he is
forced to go to the financer and take money for interest. He does this on a promise that they will become
honest in future and lead their life in the path set by him.
This hurts Narayan Murthy deeply and he feels the life he led till now was useless. He was
beaten in his ideologies by his own children. He is practically suffocating in this dark
selfish world And as much as we want to see him triumph, He just accepts defeat and commits
suicide.
After hearing about their father's death the children run away with the money and hide so
that they will not be bothered by the financer. Will the children learn their mistake and
perform the final rites for their father? Watch this on the big screen with your family at
the theaters.
Highlights:
A subject like this practically cries for sympathy, and S.Narayan's script is propped by
emotions and class acting. While taking a ride back to your home, Dr.Vishnu and Dodanna will remain in your memory for a while.
Movies of this class and subject is like an oasis in a desert.
In the end, what you take away from Sirivantha is the knowledge
that a classic script always has the power to move us, provided it is handled by a director
who knows his craft and actors who can perform their job. The efforts of the team of Dheera Rockline Venkatesh has to be praised for giving such a wonderful
movie.
Performances:
For a die-hard Vishnu fan, there can be nothing more sweet than to see this amazingly
talented actor come up with yet another going-through-the-motions performance. Its like a
role he was born to play. It is a pure performance-driven role, and Dr.Vishnu does it with a
fluid maturity that is great to watch. All his life he has played roles casting him as
different characters but Sirivantha is his and his alone. The casting of Dr.Vishnu as the
editor is perfect. Plus, the getup with graying sideburns goes well with his age. Dr.vishnu
proves again that when it comes to emoting he stands tall and sound. He has shed real tears
in a scene which is something that he has not done in the last 34 years of his career.

Dodanna has rose to the occassion and has given terrific support to the leading actors. He even goes one step further
in the climax scene. The last 20 minutes of the movie completely belongs to him and will make every person in the theater
to cry.
Shruthi as the house wife has rendered ample support. She has expressed very well as a helpless wife and
a lady who is tied between the relationship with her husband and children.
Director Narayan has the knack of building a believable family atmosphere. Apart from
taking control as the director of Sirivantha -- his much-publicized adaptation of Aa
Naluguru -- S.Narayan has written the screenplay, dialogues and also has handled the megha
phone. It is an enormously difficult task, considering this tale has been already told in
another language.
Camera man P.K.H.Dass work is execellent.
The music score by S.A.Rajkumar is good and has given three hummable tunes. Megha Megha
sung by Hariharan and Chitra, Yaaro Yaaro sung by SPB and Edegu Sidilu Badiyithe stand out.
What the bigwigs say ??:
Deve Gowda (Former Prime Minister Of India): After watching the movie the former PM said
that this is the finest performance from Dr.Vishnuvardhan. This film sends out a strong
message about human values and money. I hope the whole of Karnataka watches this as
movies of this caliber releases very rarely.
Kumar Swamy (Chief Minister of Karnataka): He appreciated the movie very much and has asked
all the employees, politicians basically people from all walks of life to follow on the
path shown in the movie.
Shivraj Kumar & Raghavendra rajkumar: Both saw the movies with their families. They were
really impressed with Dr.Vishnu's performance and the story line. They made it a point to
call Dr.Vishnu and express their happiness.
Ramesh Arvind: The effort to show the ideologies and the path that one should folllow in life in a single movie is simply superb.
Drawbacks:
The movie is anchored in extreme melodrama. So even though you respect the director's trademark
unabashed, people from this generation might feel little bored and the younger generation
might find it tough to digest. The super hit song Megha Megha is also missing.
