Story:
Dr.Vishnuvardhan's 199th movie has finally hit the screens. This movie was supposed to be the 198th movie in Vishnu's career. Due to some unknown reasons the movie was
in the cans for a while and finally made its way to the theaters. This is the penultimate movie of Dr.Vishnu.
The movie partly deals with the issues that children face today. The parents in current day scenario have their hands full and expect their children to score the highest in examinations.
To catch up with modernization and technology they force their kids in to computer which in turn hooks on to the kids and will not allow them to venture on to streets or grounds for some physical
exercise as well as entertainment. Without being too preachy, Jagannath (Vishnu) plays the role in just the right key as the school master who tries to educate the parents and the kids about the importance things in life
other than studies. He reiterates the importance and fun in playing age old games like Goli Aata, Lagori, Kunte Bille, Kho Kho, Kabaddi etc.
The sudden calmness in the life of Jagannath and Sneha (Suhashini) is disturbed by the kidnapping of their daughter Meghana. A dreaded terrorist by name Pappu (Mukesh Rishi)
is behind bars and is sentenced by the judiciary for life sentence. In order to pressurize the government to release the members of Pappu gang kidnaps the school masters daughter instead of the home ministers'
daughter. The home minister (Avinash) happens to be Jagannath's relative. The master is unsuccessful in his attempts to get his daughter released through dialogue with the government. In the process his daughter is killed.
Rest of the story is about how this master who is proficient in the old martial art Kalari Payattu, takes revenge on Pappu's gang and finish them completely. He surrenders to the court.
He advices everyone that violence is not the ultimate solution and no one should do the same mistake that he did.
Performances:
Dr.Vishnuvardhan is one actor who is gifted with great emoting ability. His dialogue delivery and the handling of emotional scenes is one of those things that you can't possibly resist watching.
The situations where Vishnu shows his helplessness in conveying to his wife the death of their daughter, his love towards his daughter are simply mind blowing. What else to say about this actor?
He just runs through the movie and even at his age excels in stunt sequences. Vishnu's fans are treated to Kalari Payattu in this movie and he looks younger and livelier than ever.
Sushasini has given complete support and almost competes in performance with Vishnu as his wife. The duo forces you to remember the hits the pair has delivered in the past like Bandhana, Muttina Hara and Suprabatha.
She has essayed the role of a caring mother and moving to a confused one without the details of her daughter's death stunningly.
Devaraj has given the right support as the cop and Dr.Vishnu's friend. Avinash, Mukesh Rishi and Dattartreya do their part to keep the flow of the movie.
Music & Direction:
Dinesh Baboo reinvents the magic that he had created with Vishnu and Suhasini together. The story is a very simple one but Baboo has taken extreme care to present it aptly on screen. He again proves that he is a director with huge potential for work.
V.Shridhar's background score for the movie is another highlight. Couple of songs stand out with the song on old games played on Indian streets standing out.
