The 100 days celebration of the movie "Kotigobba" was held at the Chowdaiah Memorial Hall in Bangalore on Saturday, the 16th of March 2002.
The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the lamp by Smt.Bharathi Vishnuvardhan.
Speaking on the occasion, Babu, one of the producers said that people at Gandhinagar had initially advised against the remake of Basha in Kannada. They were all of the opinion that nobody could emulate Rajnikanth. But Vishnu took the challenge and proved otherwise. His inimitable style and acting had the audience bowled and his popularity scaled to new heights.He also remembered that it was Vishnu's daughter Keerthi who asked him to go ahead and produce the movie.
Director of the movie Naganna attributed the success fully to Vishnuvardhan. He was of the opinion that if it was not for Vishnu then nobody else could have done justice to the role. Director S.Narayan in his brief speech said that " Everybody had written off Vishnu in 1998", but he was back like a phoenix. He also said that because of Vishnu's success, directors like him and other thousands of technicians are able to make their mark in the industry. Vishnuvardhan attributed the success to the entire team and he was only a part of it.
K.C.N.Chandrashekar, B.L.Shankar, Heroin of the movie Priyanka, Devraj and Abhijith also spoke on the occasion. Producer of the movie "Simhadriya Simha" Mr.Vijaykumar, Rehman, Music director Deva and Basanth Kumar Patil were also present.
